Wednesday Night Coffee - August 4 Konnoak Hills to Host College Freshman Sendoff - August 8, 4:00 pm Festival of August 13th Holy Communion - August 15 In the summer of 1727, Moravians and other Christians living on the German estate of Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf experienced a dramatic spiritual renewal following many months of conflict and strife. They were gathered in the Lutheran Church in the village of Berthelsdorf on August 13 when during a service of Holy Communion, they felt the presence of the Risen Christ so realistically that a thrilling joy lead them to a newfound love for one another. On this day, they laid aside their disagreements to share a unity of souls that gave new life to their community in the neighboring village of Herrnhut. And now the Savior invites us to meet him as we gather at his table on August 15 to celebrate the Holy Communion during our 11:00 worship. Potluck Music This Summer - August 18 Back to School Lovefeast - August 22 Our worship this day will be a Lovefeast celebrating our call to teach and learn. Education has long been a hallmark of the Moravian Church. In our earliest days, literacy was regarded as a necessary key to unlock the truths contained in the Scriptures, and in most cases a Moravian school operated within a Moravian church. Bishop John Amos Comenius (1592-1670) not only believed that education should be offered to all classes and both genders, but that it was also a path to world peace and universal good will. Our legacy of education lives on in the vast number of Moravian educators sharing the wisdom and love of Christ in schools around the world. We are blessed to have a good number of these teaching professionals as members of our congregation. We would like to include the names of all our teachers, educational administrators and other school employees on a bulletin insert this day. Please contact the church office to provide names for this list. Organ Rededication - September 5 After extensive repair and upgrade, our organ was welcomed back into service earlier this summer. We look forward to this special day of praise and celebration inspiring us to greater participation in the life and work of God's kingdom. Invite a neighbor! Konnoak Hills Night at Samaritan Inn - September 7 At least six people are needed to assist the shelter staff in providing supper, breakfast, and a place to sleep for approximately 75 men. We're asked to be there from 6:15 pm until 7:30 am. A sign up sheet is in the church foyer. Christ lives at Samaritan Inn as we remember his words: I was hungry and you fed me; a stranger and you took me in. Extend the invitation to a neighbor to join with us in this great work. Wednesday Night Fellowship Resumes - September 8 Join us for a fellowship supper followed by activities for all ages. Coming early in the fall will be a report on the Youth Mission Trip, a review of the 2010 Provincial Synod, and a "tour" of our refurbished organ. Church and Community Picnic - September 12, 4:00 pm Chicken Pie Making - October 7 & 8 We appreciate the help you have given us in the past and we sincerely hope that you can help us again. We would also appreciate any donations we can get to help with the cost of our supplies. The schedule is as follows:
