Come Make a Joyful Noise with our Choir!
The choir cordially invites you to prayerfully consider offering your time and musical talent to our worship services this fall! We will be holding brief rehearsals after church on August 15, 22, and 29 to prepare for our organ rededication service on September 5. The anthem that morning will be Martin Shaw's "With a Voice of Singing," and we hope to have many additional voices join us for the occasion.! If you have ever thought of joining the choir, this would be an excellent opportunity to give things a try. Those who are unable to commit to the choir on a regular basis, but would like to join us for this special occasion, are also most welcome.

2010 Provincial Synod to Convene Next Month

Let us pray for the wisdom and grace of Christ to surround this important gathering of our church.

Mission Team Returns from Alleghany County
Wow! Another mission camp has come and sadly gone, and what a camp it was. Full of new people and new projects, everyone was in for a great week. Group 1 built a staircase up an incredibly steep hill for two elderly sisters who couldn't walk up and down it easily. They are two of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet, and enjoyed our youth group being there helping them out and listening to the endless amount of stories they tell. Group 2 painted an elderly woman's porch and windows, cleaned her windows, and put insulation around the outside of the house. She was a nice lady and though she didn't interact with us as much as I had hoped, you could tell she was very grateful once she saw the finished product. I have to say, though you can easily get tired of the smell of paint, it really made the house look a lot better. We were all proud of what we had accomplished this week. We grew closer to each other and to God. There were times when the weather wouldn't cooperate with us and we couldn't cooperate with each other, but overall, I think everyone would agree it was a good week full of laughter, love, card games, songs, canoe races, worship, and most importantly, the presence of God. Thank you Konnoak Hills for giving us the opportunity to have such a wonderful experience like this for another year.

A BIG Thank You to All Who Helped with VBS
We average 90 people of all ages, studying the "Mighty Acts of God" and learning through music, movement, drama, crafts, games and our annual adventures with Chadder the Chipmunk. Even our snacks reinforced the Biblical theme of each night. Helpers appeared for every activity and group and their contributions were greatly appreciated! Every little thing means so much to the total experience. From set up to clean up, there was team work and it made for a great VBS. Don't miss our pictures on the hallway boards. Thank you everyone!!

School is OUT, However, Hunger is Still IN!
With summer in full swing, it is time for another update on the "Konnoak School Hungry Kids Fund." Enough can not be said about the amount of support this congregation has given to this project. Since the first of the year, we have been able to supply every hungry child that the school staff has identified with food staples on an ongoing basis. Here are some of the highlights you may not have heard about: We furnished breakfast snacks for the Saturday morning tutoring program at Konnoak School from February to the end of the year. We also held an ice cream party for the kids in May to celebrate the end of this tutoring program for this school year. We furnished breakfast snacks for the End-of-Grade testing week in May as well. All this is possible because of your love and generosity. And since the subject has been in the news a lot recently, we are happy to say that we are able to continue the food program for these needy students for the rest of the summer as well. Eight bags of food were delivered to the school the second week of June and nine bags in July. Currently, we are replenishing our stock and will be coordinating more deliveries with the staff at the school. We are very fortunate to be in a position to feed these children and God is working through this church to reach these families who so desperately need His help. Thank you again for all of your generous donations so far, and please keep them coming during these summer months.
